Killarney LEA continues to have highest COVID incidence rate in Kerry

Killarney Local Electoral Area remains the region of Kerry with the highest incidence rate of COVID-19.

This is according to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre, which has calculated the number of cases and the 14-day incidence rate of COVID-19 in all local electoral areas in the Republic.

From July 6th to 19th, there were 256 cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kerry.

Killarney LEA accounts for 107 cases over the two-week period, giving it an incidence rate of 361 per 100,000 population; that is up from 277 in the previous week’s data.

Castleisland LEA had 43 cases for a rate of 250; more than double last week’s rate.

Kenmare and Listowel LEAs both recorded 35 cases.

Kenmare has an incidence rate of 139 and Listowel is at 122.

There were 18 cases recorded in Corca Dhuibhne and Tralee LEAs.

Corca Dhuibhne has a rate of 126 based on population and Tralee is 54.

The national incidence rate is nearly 246, Kerry has an incidence rate of 178.

Cardonagh in Donegal has the highest rate in the country at 1,975.
