A Killarney hotelier says with the unlikelihood of foreign tourists coming here until possibly late next year major supports are needed for the hospitality sector.

A Killarney hotelier says with the unlikelihood of foreign tourists coming here until possibly late next year major supports are needed for the hospitality sector.

The Irish Hotels Federation is calling on the Government to reduce the VAT rate for the industry in the upcoming Budget.

It also wants the waiver on commercial rates for hospitality businesses extended for at least a year and the extension of the subsidy scheme for employees.

The IHF has launched the Go Anywhere Gift Card to support the sector during a difficult time for the industry; more information can be found here

General Manager of the Cahernane House Hotel in Killarney, Emer Corridan says occupancy rates are dropping and there has been a lot of cancellations from domestic tourists.

She says it is important that people support the industry if they can especially during the winter months ahead:
