A Killarney father and son's case was before Judge David Waters for cocaine possession at Killarney District Court yesterday.
Pat Fleming and Trevor Fleming, both of 21 Arbutus Drive, Killarney, are charged with alleged drug offences in April of this year.
Gardaí estimate the total value of the cocaine involved to be in the region of €10,000.
Both men were represented by solicitor Pádraig O’Connell.
28-year-old Trevor Fleming was arrested on 8th April.
The following day, he was charged at Killarney Garda Station with four offences.
Two of the charges were under section three of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977, for the unlawful possession of cocaine at 21 Arbutus Drive, Killarney, and at Knocknaderry, Farranfore village.
He was also charged under section 15 of the same Act with two counts of possession of cocaine for sale or supply at the same addresses.
He made no reply to any of the four charges.
His father, 59-year old Pat Fleming, was charged on 10th April at Killarney Garda Station under section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977, for the unlawful possession of cocaine at 21 Arbutus Drive, Killarney.
In response, he stated: “I picked them up off the ground. They were my son’s”.
He was also charged under section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act for possession of cocaine for sale or supply at the same address.
He replied: “I didn’t have it in my possession. It was for my son.”
Bail was granted to both men, with Pat Fleming entering a recognisance of €200.
In Killarney District Court yesterday, Judge David Waters adjourned the case until 3rd June for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
