Killarney councillor appeals for public not to interfere with life buoys after two new units vandalised

A Killarney councillor has appealed to the public not to interfere with life-buoys and help save lives.

Labour’s Marie Moloney made the plea after two new life buoys were vandalised along a popular river walk in the town.

Kerry County Council erected four new buoys along the River Flesk between Muckross Road and Killarney Racecourse on Wednesday.

Cllr Moloney says one of the life buoys was floating in the river after being removed, while the second has disappeared.

She says it took two years of campaigning to secure the life buoys along the route, and aired her frustration at the act:
