A Kilcummin man has been remanded on continuing bail following the seizure of €140,000 worth of drugs.

Patrick Daly Jr of Buddihans, Kilcummin is facing four charges contrary to Sections 3 and 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977.

He was first granted bail earlier this month.

On June 7th, Patrick Daly Jr sought bail in Mallow District Court, following the seizure of €140,00 worth of drugs in Kilcummin the previous day.

Solicitor for the accused, Padraig O'Connell, said his client has no previous convictions, has just turned 18 and co-operated fully with gardaí.

The state opposed the bail application on the basis of the value of the cannabis seized, because the accused was a perceived flight risk and he is a known drug user.

Padraig O'Connell said the accused is merely a cog in the wheel, is totally out of his depth and is a vulnerable, fragile individual.

Bail was granted subject to seven conditions, including to sign on daily, observe a curfew, hand over his passport and answer all calls from gardaí.

Patrick Daly Jr was remanded on continuing bail and is due to reappear in Killarney District Court on July 20th.
