A Kerry TD has criticised the government for making changes to a scheme that allows a tenant to continue to stay in their home, if their landlord decides to sell.
Under the tenant-in-situ scheme, the local authority or the Housing Agency buys the property and continues to rent it to the tenant.
Sinn Féin TD Pa Daly says that changes made to the scheme have already led to a number of acquisitions being cancelled by the council.
He says under new rules, single people and couples without children are excluded from the scheme.
Deputy Daly believes this will increase the likelihood of tenants being evicted if a landlord decides to sell.
