The head caretaker of Kerry’s largest school feels that people don’t realise the scale of their workload.
Declan Dowling of Mercy Mounthawk Tralee, was speaking on the seventh day of indefinite strike action by school secretaries and caretakers.
The dispute centres around access to public service pensions and other entitlements.
Teaching unions claim the strike is causing significant disruption at schools across the country.
Mr Dowling says the summer can often be the busiest time for maintenance at schools.
He believes the strike action is an avoidable situation, but it’s down to equality in the workplace.
