Kerry racecourse denied tax exemption

A Kerry racecourse has been denied a tax exemption.

According to today’s Irish Examiner, Listowel Racecourse had applied for a tax exemption available to sports bodies, however, it failed to demonstrate that its sole purpose is the promotion of horse racing.

The racecourse said that horse racing is indisputably a sport, but acknowledged that horse racing might also be considered an industry.
