A Kerry native is to be conferred with an honorary doctorate from South East Technological University (SETU).
Elizabeth Riordan-Coppin, who was born in Killarney, is being recognised for her contribution to Irish society.
She spent her early years in industrial schools and the Magdalene Laundry network, before later becoming a survivors advocate.
In 2020, Ms Riordan-Coppin’s pursuit for justice led to a landmark case before the UN Committee Against Torture - calling on Ireland to confront a legacy of institutional mistreatment.
SETU says the honorary doctorate recognizes her bravery, advocacy, and lifelong dedication to human rights and social justice.
