A Kerry mother says people with autism and their families want better services, not lip service to diversity and inclusion.

Jean O'Sullivan is from Tuosist and her son Michael has autism.

She was reacting to Mattel introducing its first Barbie doll who has autism.

The company says it is designed to reflect diversity and inclusion and the presence of people with neurodiversity in society.

Ms O'Sullivan acknowledges the intentions of Mattel.

However, she said it would be far more beneficial for children with autism and their families if they got improved services and supports:
