A Kerry MEP is leading a European Parliament delegation to Australia.
Sean Kelly is Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Australia and New Zealand.
The aim of the visit to Sydney and Canberra is to strengthen political and economic ties and to advance negotiations on the EU–Australia Free Trade Agreement.
The trade agreement is a proposed treaty that aims to reduce or eliminate barriers to trade and investment between the European Union and Australia.
Speaking ahead of the official meeting in Canberra, Kilcummin native Mr Kelly described the visit as an important milestone in EU–Australia relations.
