Kerry MEP calls for state control on scrub burning in National Park

A Kerry MEP says farmers who wish to burn scrub in Killarney National Park should have to get permission from the Office of Public Works.

MEP Seán Kelly was speaking after the recent fire which burned almost half the land area of the park.

An investigation into the cause of the fires is ongoing.

He says state control is now overdue to prevent it happening again.
