Kerry man wins UL President’s Award for research into back pain

A Kerry researcher has won the University of Limerick President’s Award for his study into back pain.

Dr Kieran O’Sullivan, a physiotherapist from Dromid in South Kerry and a senior lecturer at UL,  is ranked in the top 30 researchers on back problems in the world.

Dr O’Sullivan has been conducting research which sheds new light on why back pain is such an ongoing challenge.

He says the latest research shows that a sore back can be a symptom of stress and anxiety.
