Kerry County Council is to appoint a biodiversity officer.

Ten local authorities have been awarded funding as part of a roll-out of biodiversity officers across Ireland.

The officers will deliver and drive local action for biodiversity within local authorities.

County biodiversity plans and forums will form part of this, and officers will assist and advise local authorities on biodiversity-related issues.
