Kerry County Council has adopted a regional homeless action plan.
This plan aims to put a strategic framework in place for the delivery of homeless services at regional level.
The plan was adopted at the recent monthly meeting of Kerry County Council.
Councillors agreed to adopt the Regional Homeless Action Plan for the South-West Region 2025-2028.
The council says this plan will serve as a foundation for the development of local action/implementation plans which will outline the detailed actions relevant to addressing homelessness at city and county levels.
Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Fianna Fáil councillor Breandán Fitzgerald says addressing homelessness is a very significant challenge and he acknowledged the efforts and progress made by the staff in Kerry County Council who work in this area.
Chief Executive of Kerry County Council, Fearghal Reidy says the council will work with all stakeholders to deliver the key strategic goals, which are prevention, protection and progression from homelessness, as they are set out in the plan.
