A Kerry county councillor has accused Irish Water of failing Kerry and Fenit.

Councillor Mikey Sheehy said he’s utterly disappointed that Kerry has not been included in the first tranche of funding in the Irish Water Small Town and Village Growth Scheme.

The Fianna Fáil councillor said the Fenit wastewater treatment plant has been at capacity for far too long and its current condition is strangling both community and commercial development.

He called on Government ministers to address this oversight by Irish Water immediately.
