The Kerry Association of New York is hoping for support from the county as it raises vital funds for renovation works to its building.
The association is currently undertaking a major capital campaign to support the Kerry Hall, its community centre in Yonkers, New York, where urgent repairs are needed.
Tom O’Sullivan is Vice President of the Kerry Association of New York, and Chairman of the Annual Dinner.
He says there is a new generation of Kerry people thriving in New York and it’s important the association continues to keep the story of Irish America alive.
He’s hoping for support for its annual fundraiser dinner on Friday March 20th at Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester New York, just outside Manhattan.
Dr Elizabeth Stack from Listowel will be honoured at the fundraising dinner, having been named as the association’s Kerry Person of the Year.
Dr Stack is a distinguished historian who has done significant work on documenting Irish American history.
She says she was very proud to be chosen for the accolade.
