Kerry Airport is to be included in funding announced under the Regional Airports Programme 2026-2030.
Transport Minister Darragh O’Brien announced almost €45 million for regional airports, with up to €19 million available for 2026.
The funding has been welcomed by Fianna Fáil TD Michael Cahill.
The new Regional Airports Programme will now include airports with up the three million passengers annually.
The programme will provide almost €45 million capital investment for airports that meet the new criteria.
The significant expansion means that Kerry Airport currently eligible under the scheme, alongside Shannon, Dongeal and Ireland West/Knock Airport.
The five –year programme aims to support connectivity and regional development, maximising the use of existing capacity across regional airports.
