Kerry County Council is to support a feasibility study for the development of a blueway in Listowel.
The blueway, which would be built on the River Feale if deemed feasible, would be linked to the local greenways.
The local authority says the development of the project would have to demonstrate compatibility with the conservation objective of the lower Shannon river, which is a special area of conservation.
