Jury deliberating in trial of Kerry man accused of murdering brother

The jury has began its deliberations in the trial of a man accused of murdering his brother in Castleisland.

Fergus O’Connor of The Village, Scartaglen, faces one charge, that he murdered his brother Pádraig "Paudie" O’Connor at 32 An Caisleán Mór, Castleisland, on June 28th last year, contrary to common law

The 42-year-old denies the charge.

He is represented by Senior Counsel Mark Nicholas and Caroline O'Connell BL, instructed by solicitor Eimear Griffin from the office of Pádraig O'Connell.

Closing arguments were heard on the sixth day of trial yesterday, which is being heard before Judge Melanie Greally at the Central Criminal Court sitting in Limerick.

The jury of eight men and four women was sent out to begin its deliberations at 11.45 this morning.
