An investigation into animal cruelty in Killarney is underway after a horse was left badly injured following a sulky race on Saturday.
The incident happened on the main Killarney to Fossa road at around lunchtime, and the horse was brought for treatment.
The animal was said to be in a serious, exhausted state and is now in the care of the ISPCA.

Up to three horses were involved in the racing, and Gardaí are seeking information about the owner of the injured horse.
