IFA Hill Farming Committee chair calls for classes to teach children about responsible dog ownership

The chair of the IFA Kerry Hill Farming committee is calling for classes in schools to educate children on the importance of keeping their pets under control.

Dog attacks on sheep are increasingly causing huge economic damage to farming communities.

37 dog attacks on livestock have been reported in the last four years, according to a map recently launched by Kerry County Council at a recent full council meeting.

IFA Hill Farming Committee chair Patrick O'Mahony feels that proper education is essential in preventing dog attacks and says that properly educating children about responsible pet ownership might encourage parents to follow suit:
