Homes and businesses on higher grounds in Kerry are still impacted by the water mains burst on Tuesday.

A major burst occurred on the Kerry Central Regional Water Supply Scheme on Tuesday, leaving around 50,000 homes and businesses without water or with very low pressure across the county.

The pipe was repaired in the early hours of Wednesday morning, but Irish Water says customers located on higher grounds and on the extremity of the network may continue to experience temporary outages and/or low water pressure.

Irish Water says night-time restrictions may still be required in some areas over the coming days, and is appealing to the public to conserve water to help with the restoration of water supply.

Mobile water tankers providing alternative water supplies remain in place today in Tralee, at O'Donnell's Bar Mounthawk, and the Brandon Car Park, and in Killarney at the Rock Road Car Park.
