The CEO of the First Home Scheme (FHS) says the number of homes it's funding in Kerry at the moment "is extremely low".
Michael Broderick met with stakeholders in Kerry's construction industry yesterday to discuss the failure of the scheme.
He says he would have expected far more homes to be drawn down in Kerry under the scheme, but supply and price ceiling issues mean it's not working here.
He also believes that infrastructure issues are hindering the housing supply in Kerry and elsewhere.
Changes are being considered to improve the scheme, including rising the cap from €375,000 to €400,000 to let more people take advantage.
The price ceilings are continuously reviewed and any changes approved are implement twice annually, in January and July.
Mr Broderick says an update on the outcome of the price ceiling review should be implemented in early January (2026):
