Gardaí are warning the public to be vigilant to the latest phone scam doing the rounds.
It’s after a number of people nationwide were scammed out of sums of money recently.
The scammers are calling purporting to be from the Gardaí or “the national police force of Ireland”.
The caller claims that the person answering the phone has committed a crime, and there is a warrant for their arrest, which will be removed for a fee.
Sergeant Lynda Brosnan says such phonecalls are not genuine and has this advise if you receive such a scam call:
