Tralee Skatepark Community Group has launched a fundraising drive in order to bridge a gap in funding.
The group has secured €182,000 from Sports Capital Funding, Kerry County Council, and LEADER.
A final €18,000 is required, however, to meet the construction cost, and the group has started a GoFundMe page aiming to raise that money.
Planning has been granted for the skatepark on the grounds of Tralee Sports Complex and a tender has been awarded; it’s hoped construction could begin before the end of the year.
Justin McCarthy from the Tralee Skatepark Community Group says the concrete park has been designed for all ages and abilities, and will be open to the public.
