Funding of €1 million has been allocated to a project in South Kerry.
The Cahersiveen Town Centre Regeneration Project, which is being led by Kerry County Council, has received the funding under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund.
It’s the second tranche of funding the town has received this summer.
The Rural Regeneration and Development Fund is part of Project Ireland 2040.
Heather Humphreys, the Minister for Rural and Community Development, announced funding worth €1 million today for the Cahersiveen Town Centre Regeneration Project.
Led by Kerry County Council, this project will design measures to regenerate areas within the town centre, including the preparation of a Daniel O’Connell Quarter.
The council estimates a total cost of €1.33 million for this stage of the project.
Fine Gael TD and Government Deputy Chief Whip Brendan Griffin has welcomed the funding, saying it’s in addition to a previous €1.4m, which was allocated in the first round of announcements earlier this summer.
Minister Norma Foley has also welcomed today’s funding announcement for Cahersiveen.
