Four Kerry animal welfare organisations to receive over €85,000 in funding

Four Kerry animal welfare organisations are to receive over €85,000 in funding.

Nationally, 94 such organisations will get €6.43 million under the Animal Welfare Grants Programme.

The Department of Agriculture stated that to be eligible, the organisations had to have a proven track record in rehoming, providing animal welfare education to the public, and guidance to prevent welfare problems in the future.

Animal Help Net Kerry will receive €30,000, the KSPCA (Kerry Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is to receive over €20,000 (€20,188), KLAWS (Kenmare Locality Animal Welfare Society) will get €20,000, and Homes for Unwanted Greyhounds in Kerry will receive €15,000.

The announcement has been welcomed by Kerry TDs, the Minister for Children, Disability and Equality, Norma Foley, and Deputy Michael Cahill.
