Family carers in Kerry are invited to join a free dementia training course by the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
The free “Insights into Dementia - Informing and Empowering Family Carers” course will begin September 10th in the Killarney Plaza Hotel and Spa.
It's estimated that there are 2,429 people with dementia in Kerry, with approximately 64,000 affected across Ireland.
It is an in-person programme is designed to support and educate family carers by offering practical information, emotional support, and a person-centred approach to caring.
The course is open to anyone caring for or supporting a family member, friend, or neighbour living with dementia, the course is led by expert tutors from the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
Thérèse Shannon, Lead Tutor with The ASI’s Learning and Development Department said:
“Supporting or caring for a person living with dementia is both rewarding and challenging. This in-person course in Kerry offers family carers practical tools, insights, and a space for connection. It’s designed to help carers feel more confident and less isolated by covering key areas such as communication, daily routines, and responding to behaviours.”
