Gardaí will be conducting extra checkpoints for drink driving during Listowel Race Week.
The seven-day Harvest Festival Meeting begins this Sunday but will be closed to the public.
A large number of people, however, are still expected to travel to Listowel and the wider area, and pubs and restaurants are expected to be busy.

Sgt Diarmaid O’Brien of Listowel Garda Station is encouraging anyone planning on going out in Listowel during race week to organise their transport in advance.
He says the Garda Roads Policing Unit will be carrying out extra checkpoints to detect any drink driving.
