Kerry community groups and micro enterprises are among those to receive grant aid under the European Maritime and Fisheries fund.

Minister for Agriculture Food and the Marine, Dara Calleary announced grants worth €1.2 million for 93 local community groups and micro enterprises by six of the seven Fisheries Local Action Groups.

€158,426.93 has been allocated for the South West region, which includes Kerry and Limerick.

Among those to get funding are Coiste Forbartha na Sceilge CLG, which will receive €48,000 for the development of Reen Pier; Skellig Michael Cruises Ltd has been allocated €19,500.

Fine Gael TD and Government deputy Chief Whip Brendan Grifffin has welcomed the news.
