Over €40,000 has been raised for a South Kerry business which was destroyed in a fire over the weekend.

Kevy’s Takeaway, located on Newmarket Street, Cahersiveen, caught fire in the early hours of Sunday morning after serving crowds at the Cahersiveen Music and Arts Festival.

The community of the Iveragh Peninsula is rallying around Kevy and Janette Murphy who have been operating a takeaway at the premises for the last 30 years.

Patricia Kennedy is a part of the group which has organised the fundraiser.

She said it’s time for the community to repay the Murphy family for the amount they have contributed to the locality over the years.
