At least 130 hectares of land has been burned in counties in Kerry, Laois and Wicklow this month.
Satellite imagery identified the activity, which is prohibited between March and August every year.
The Department of Agriculture says they will launch a ground inspection in these areas and those found guilty of breaking the Wildlife Act are liable to prosecution.
