A Kerry county councillor says the local authority should express an interest in taking over ownership of the former school in Knocknagoshel.
Kerry County Council told Cllr Jackie Healy-Rae this is a matter for the Department of Education.
However, Cllr Healy-Rae said should the opportunity arise, the council should look to take over the prime site, which he says could have the potential to rejuvenate the village. Cllr Healy-Rae said the last thing anyone wants to see is the former school building fall into disrepair.
