Wait times at University Hospital Kerry’s Emergency Department are at their lowest since 2017.
That’s according to figures provided to Aontú leader Peadar Tóibín by the HSE, showing how long it takes for a patient to be seen at EDs all around the country.
During the first three months of 2025, it took an average of 7.9 hours for patients to be seen at UHK’s ED – its lowest figure since 2017.
Wait times peaked at UHK’s Emergency Department in 2019, at over ten hours.
The data shows the wait of almost eight hours to be seen, is still more than two hours longer than in 2015, when patients waited an average of 5.4 hours.
Deputy Tóibín said this shows the pressure hospitals are under, while over half a million patients have left emergency departments around Ireland since 2017 without being seen at all, due to the waiting times.
