An Bord Pleanála has granted permission to Kerry County Council to acquire lands by compulsory purchase order for the N70 Sneem to Blackwater Bridge road project.
The board said the decision was made to improve road safety and to facilitate the growth of tourism and economic development of the region.
It also said the road improvements would provide improved connectivity between Sneem and Kenmare and reduce congestion on the road network.

An Bord Pleanála said the CPO was justified in the interest of the common good.
