Almost 80 social housing units are due to be completed in the wider Tralee area within the next six months.
An update on the council’s current housing programme in the Tralee Municipal District was provided to councillors at the recent MD meeting.
The same update shows that there are still almost 2,400 approved social housing applicants who want to live in the Tralee area.
Four council housing schemes are currently under construction in the Tralee MD.
Next month, 16 apartments are due to be completed in Hawley Park; they comprise 12 one-bed units and four two-bed units.
The 27 apartments currently being built on the former Denny bacon factory site off the Matt Talbot Road in the town are due to be finished next March; they include 22 one-beds and five two-beds.
Also in March, 19 units are due to be completed in Garryruth, again majority one-bed units.
89 housing units in Lohercannon, adding to the houses already finished there, are due to be finished in September 2027.
Social housing will also be provided by some private housing developments in Tralee due to be finished shortly.
Ten housing units will be handed over to the council in the new Belmont View development in Ballyard, when they are finished by the end of this year.
Seven more units, all three-beds, will be provided for social housing from developments in Ballymullen, due to be finished early next year.
It comes as almost 2,400 approved applicants on Kerry County Council’s social housing list who have selected Tralee as one of their preferred areas to live.
Over half of these applicants are seeking one-bed units, and a further 1,000 are awaiting two or three-bed units.
