Almost 30 millimetres of rain recorded yesterday at Valentia

Almost 30 millimetres of rain fell at a south Kerry weather station yesterday.

During the yellow weather warning, Met Eireann said Valentia Observatory recorded 29.4 millimetres of rain.

This was only surpassed by Moore Park in Cork where 30.9 millimetres of rain fell.

Meanwhile, Valentia had the highest monthly sunshine total in the country last month with just over 236 hours.

The facility recorded the highest air temperature in April 1st at 21.2 degrees; its highest April temperature for a decade.
