Almost 130 schools in Kerry are eligible for the hot school meals programme.
The programme provides regular, nutritious food to children to support them in taking full advantage of the education provided to them.
In Kerry, 127 schools, with over 15,800 (15,836) pupils, are eligible for the scheme.
Currently, there are 87 schools, with over 11,500 (11,569) pupils, are in receipt of hot school meals in Kerry.
The figures were provided by Minister for Social Protection Dara Calleary following a query from Fine Gael TD John Paul O’Shea.
Minister Calleary says any remaining primary schools who have yet to express an interest will be eligible to join the programme from September this year.
