It’s impossible to compete with Airbnb in West Kerry.
That’s according to Paidí Ó Sé, manager of the Comharcumann in Ballyferriter, who was speaking after it was decided to not run state-backed Irish language summer courses this year on health and safety grounds.
He says the government’s financial commitment needs to be increased, as homeowners only receive €10 per student per night.

Mr O’Sé says the Comharcumann ran a campaign this year to entice new accommodation owners into hosting students, but not one application was received.
