Additional Garda patrols will take place in Kerry this weekend, as large numbers from two communities travel to Dublin for All-Ireland finals.
An Ghaeltacht will face Glenullin from Derry in the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship final at 3.30pm on Sunday in Croke Park.
Ahead of that, at 1.30pm on Sunday, Ballymac will take on Clogher Éire Óg of Tyrone in the All-Ireland Junior Club Football Championship final, which is also in Croke Park.
A significant number of supporters will travel from both areas.
Fianna Fáil councillor and Ballymac resident Fionnán Fitzgerald says Gardaí will carry out extensive patrols in the area over the weekend.
He says it’s important that people know their homes are safe while they travel to Dublin:
Cllr Fitzgerald is urging people to make sure to they lock their property securely, close gates, leave lights on in their homes and ensure all windows/doors are closed and properly locked.
He’s also appealing to those in the area that aren’t travelling to keep an eye out for unusual activity across the weekend and report anything suspicious to Gardaí.
