87 Kerry residents will become Irish citizens at special ceremonies in Killarney this week.
Applicants from over 132 countries and living across 32 counties will be conferred during the six ceremonies, which got underway this morning.
Over 5,200 people will take an oath of fidelity to the Irish state and receive their citizenship at the Gleneagle Arena.
The nationalities with most applicants were India (1,188), Brazil (572), Romania (462), and the UK (416); while Dublin (2,785), Cork (623) and Kildare (452) were the counties where the highest number of applications were made.
Since 2011, 222,000 people (including children) from over 180 countries have received Irish citizenship at citizenship ceremonies.
