Five people have lost their lives on Kerry roads so far this year.

This figure is contained in new research from the Road Safety Authority, which found that rural roads, with speed limits of 80km per hour or higher, are the most likely places for a fatal collision to occur.

65 people died on Irish roads between January and July 15th of this year. Dublin had the greatest number of fatalities with 11, followed by Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary and Louth, which each had five.
