There has been a 40% drop in the number of Gardaí in the Kerry Roads Policing Unit over 17 years.
That’s according to figures compiled by Parc Road Safety Group, published by An Garda Síochána.
According to the Irish Examiner, as of December 2025 there were 21 gardaí assigned to the RPU in Kerry.
This is a reduction of 14 when compared with 2009, when 35 members were assigned to the unit in the county.
Nationally, 56 members were assigned to the RPU last year, with 10 allocated to the Southern Garda Region, none of which went to Kerry.
