24 patients had been admitted to University Hospital Kerry this morning without a bed to accommodate them.
Figures collated by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation's TrolleyWatch show 16 people were on trolleys in the emergency department, while eight more were on trolleys elsewhere in the hospital.
University Hospital Limerick has the largest number awaiting a bed, with 80, followed by Cork University Hospital and University Hospital Galway.
