Drivers who pay for their motor tax every three or six months shouldn't have to pay extra - that's the call from Social Democrats TD Aidan Farrelly. The Kildare North TD got figures from the Department of Transport which showed that if you pay your motor tax every three months – you are surcharged 13% over the standard annual rate. If you pay your motor tax every six months, you are paying 11% more than someone who pays their tax annually.
