An Irish Army Ranger Wing abseiled onto the Panamanian cargo ship, containing over €500 million worth of cocaine off the south coast. The drugs, which weighed 2.2 tonnes, were recovered from the MV Matthew which was seized in a military operation, making it the largest seizure by weight in the history of the State. Noel O’Leary of Irish Adventures, Dingle, has been abseiling for 30 years and spoke to Jerry about how difficult of a task it would have been.
