“I Have No Hate in My Heart” – June 29th, 2023

On July 1^st, 2012, Paud O’Leary from Gneeveguilla was killed by a hit-and-run driver while he was out cycling, preparing for the annual charity Ring of Kerry event. The father-of-four was fundraising for the Down Syndrome Association. Shane Fitzgerald from Co Cork fled the country. He was later found guilty of dangerous driving causing death; he served three years and eight months in prison, and was banned from driving for 11 years.  Last Friday, Mr Fitzgerald’s bid to have his driving licence restored failed. Mr O’Leary’s wife Margaret spoke to Jerry.
