With the number of women who have died violently in recent times, should we look at whether this country has a problem when it comes to violence against girls and women? Jerry spoke to Maria Dempsey from Rockchapel – her daughter Alicia Brough was 20 years old when she was murdered by John Geary in Newcastle West in November 2010. Geary is serving a life sentence for the murder of his former partner Sarah Hines, their five-month-old daughter Amy, Sarah’s three-year-old son Reece, and Alicia who was Sarah’s friend.
