Joan McElligott née O’Connor, Beheenagh, Knocknagoshel and formerly of Scarteen, Blackwater and the Bronx, New York
Joan died peacefully in the care of Our Lady of Fatima Home, Tralee, Co. Kerry on the 5th of January 2026. Beloved wife of the late Sean McElligott and predeceased by her parents James and Bridie O’Connor, her brothers Michael and John and sisters Mary and Agnes.
Joan will be sadly missed by her loving daughters Bridget Stack, Joan Lane, son John, brothers Jimmy and Donie, sister-in-law, sons-in-law Donal Stack and Aeneas Lane, daughter-in-law Rhonda Hewitt, grandchildren Grace, Joan, Angela, Darren and Conor, her three great-grandchildren, Rowen, Luca and Fíadh, nephews, nieces, kind carers, her extended family and many friends.

Funeral Arrangements
Reposing at Leahy’s Funeral Home, Knocknagoshel Village this Wednesday evening, January 7th from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral arriving at St Mary’s Church, Knocknagoshel on Thursday, January 8th, where Requiem Mass for Joan will be celebrated at 11am followed by a private cremation. Live streaming of Joan’s Requiem Mass will be available on the St Mary’s Church Knocknagoshel Facebook page.
Donations in lieu of flowers if desired to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland alternatively donations can be made care of Leahy’s Funeral Home.
